Get answers to common questions about Chin Wax.
Most clients enjoy smooth, hair-free skin for three to six weeks. Longevity depends on individual hair growth cycles, hormonal factors, and consistent waxing. Regular appointments can gradually extend time between sessions by weakening hair follicles over months.
Some minor stinging or brief pinching is normal, but discomfort is usually short-lived. We use gentle wax and techniques tailored for sensitive skin, along with calming pre- and post-care. Topical numbing or soothing products can be offered if needed.
Come with clean, dry skin and hair roughly a quarter-inch long for the wax to grip. Avoid exfoliating or using retinoids 48-72 hours beforehand, and skip heavy creams or tanning so the wax adheres properly and reduces irritation.
Waxing is not a guaranteed permanent solution, but regular waxing can weaken follicles and reduce hair density and coarseness over months. For permanent removal, consider laser treatments or electrolysis. We'll advise on the best long-term approach during a consultation.
Avoid sun exposure, hot showers, and heavy makeup for 24-48 hours to reduce irritation. Use gentle cleansers and the soothing serum recommended by your esthetician. Exfoliate gently after 48 hours to prevent ingrown hairs, and contact us if redness or irritation persists.
Individuals using isotretinoin, topical retinoids, blood thinners, or with active sunburn, open wounds, severe cystic acne, or rosacea should avoid waxing and consult us or their physician first. Pregnant clients and those with medical concerns should inform their esthetician prior to treatment.
