After Your Casmara Green Algae Masque: A Simple Care Plan

The masque is gentle, so aftercare is mostly common sense: keep your skin clean, moisturized and covered with sunscreen, and skip anything harsh for a day or two. If we gave you specific instructions at your visit, follow those first.
Tonight
- Rinse with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser if you wash your face at all. Many people simply leave the glow alone until morning.
- Apply your usual moisturizer. Skin has just taken in a lot of moisture, and a light layer helps keep it there.
- Pass on heavy makeup if you can. Skin tends to look its best without it.
The next day or two
Think of this as a quiet window. A hydrating masque does not call for downtime, but skin that has just been pampered does not need to be pushed either.
- Use sunscreen every morning, even on cloudy days.
- Hold off on scrubs, strong acids and retinoids for a day or two, or longer if we advise it.
- Go easy on saunas, steam rooms and very hot showers.
- Wait on other treatments, such as waxing or peels, until you have checked timing with us.
If you had it as an add-on
The masque is often added to a facial, which means the main treatment sets the rules. If you had extractions, a peel or microneedling the same day, follow the aftercare for that treatment, and treat the masque as the soothing finish rather than the reason for caution.
Things worth watching
Algae extracts are generally well tolerated, but any product can bother sensitive skin. Mild warmth that fades quickly is nothing to worry about. If you notice lasting redness, itching, swelling or a rash, wash your face with cool water, stop using new products, and call us. Tell us before your visit if you have a seaweed or iodine allergy, active skin infection or a condition like eczema or rosacea.
